About

Purpose

To develop and co-ordinate research on the production and reception of Irish drama in its local, national and international contexts
Scope
Irish drama for the purpose of this project will be defined as including all theatrical performances within the island of Ireland, and any theatrical performances outside the country involving Irish-born personnel or having substantial Irish content. The circulation of theatre into and out of as well as within Ireland will be a principal concern of the project. In the initial phase of the project, it will be limited to theatre from 1700 to the present, including English and Irish-language production. However, Irish dramatic material in other languages and from earlier periods may be incorporated at a later stage.
