- Purpose
- To develop and co-ordinate research on the production and
reception of Irish drama in its local, national and international
contexts.
- Scope
- Irish drama for the purpose of this
project will be defined as including all theatrical performances
within the island of Ireland, and any theatrical performances
outside the country involving Irish-born personnel or having
substantial Irish content. The circulation of theatre into and out
of as well as within Ireland will be a principal concern of the
project. In the initial phase of the project, it will be limited
to theatre from 1700 to the present, including English and
Irish-language production. However, Irish dramatic material in
other languages and from earlier periods may be incorporated at a
later stage.
- Objectives

- To set up website with listings of relevant archives and
ongoing research.
- To identify and support specific research projects.
- To promote international research collaboration.
- To organise conferences and publications.
